The model and influencer talks trends and more between shows at NYFW.

Most of us wear one, maybe two pairs of shoes in a day. But if it’s New York Fashion Week and you’re Natalie Suarez, you can expect that number to skyrocket. “I think I’ll be wearing about 100 different pairs of shoes,” she says when we catch her between shows. “I change into multiple outfits a day, so it’s a lot.”

Natalie launched her eponymous website, Natalie Off Duty, in 2009, and now has over half a million followers on Instagram who love her easy, model off-duty sense of style and on-the-go lifestyle. “I’m always out from morning to night,” she admits, “and I walk a lot throughout the day – I usually walk over 8000 steps a day.”

We’re betting that 8000 steps turns into many more during NYFW, and there’s nothing worse than blisters and sore feet when you’ve got shows to cover and fashion week events to attend. “My shoes have to be really comfortable, and they have to have lots of cool colours and cool prints, because I love to mix and match,” she says.

With a knack for pattern play, it’s easy to see why Natalie’s a fan of the FitFlop Allegro dotted-snake leather ballerinas – they go perfectly with her plaid wide-leg trousers and soft pink trench. Bonus points for the cool, striped lining on her coat, which we catch a glimpse of as she heads off to another show.

For a brighter look that stands out on a grey, New York day (thanks, polar vortex), Natalie’s asymmetric-hem floral dress, fluoro coat and Überknit sock boot combo is instant street style gold. “I’m really into snake print at the moment, sneakers with dresses, and I love little tiny bucket bags,” she says, holding up a pint-sized, tan leather style.

And from the flurry of photographers that scramble to snap a picture of her, it’s clear that her fans and followers love her sense of style, too.
