What makes a neutral? Well, good question. When it comes to fashion, a neutral is a color that you can wear with just about everything. And, you’ll know that’s something we LOVE, since we’re big fans of shoes that multitask.

So, what’s a neutral when it comes to FW2019? Step into a neutral palette of chocolate, stone, taupe and a hint of animal print.

Here are your new season neutrals, and how to wear them from sun up, to sun down – well, longer really, because the sun sets pretty early in winter!

Stone and urban white

We love how fresh off-white tones look paired against a winter sky, as well as a plethora of winter closet staples in black, tan and gray.

Carita high-top sneakers

Our picks of the season include the Carita high-top sneakers in urban white – our 90s-inspired chunky sneakers featuring cord laces, contrast gray panelling, and packing plenty of comfort. These look particularly good with blue denim and a trench coat, and a long Saturday lunch date that rolls into the evening.

Sania skate leather sneakers

Our Sania skate leather sneakers are a closed-toe go-to that also comes in white. Simple, understated, and incredibly comfortable, these minimal staples look great with loose-fitting tailored pants or boyfriend jeans, a tee, and an ankle-length checked or animal-print coat – and they make a long Christmas shopping list look not so bad, too.

Eloise croc-print wedge sandals

For something a little more glamorous, we suggest our gorgeous Eloise croc wedge sandals with gold bamboo buckle. These come in stone pebble print (and tan, but more about that later), and are just as wearable during the day as they are the evening. Style with wide-legged pants in every color and print imaginable. Is it too early to call it love?

Taupe and mink

The perfect pair of taupe shoes is like a blank canvas: you can match just about every color – warm and cool tones – with this pinky hue. Red? Go for it. Neon yellow? No worries.

Allegro crinkle patent ballet flats

Try our Allegro crinkle patent ballet flats in taupe with black leggings and an oversized black sweater for a super stylish (but incredibly comfortable) run-around outfit, or a blazer and long-sleeved dress for work.

Lena loafers

If you love a loafer, pair our Lena loafers in beechwood with a tailored, dark navy suit for the perfect work combo, or to give a polished edge to your favourite jeans.

Tan and chocolate

We can almost hear the collective rejoicing when we say: this season, load up on chocolate! And while we’ll almost always recommend that when it comes to the edible kind, for now, we’re actually talking about the color…

It’s a rich, warm (and delicious) neutral that works well with reds, blues and all shades of green, but we especially love it in a tonal team-up with toffees, taupes and creams. So, what have we got in chocolate?

Maria ankle boots

Our Maria ankle boot in chocolate brown is a classic, smart style that works hard during the day, and well into the evening too. The small SupercomFF™ heel makes Maria ideal for wearing with jeans, pants, bare legs, tights, and skirts of all lengths.

Kaia croc-print sandals

For a lighter take, tan is just as desirable this fall. Always on trend, it’s everywhere this season and for good reason: tan is effortlessly fabulous, every time!

Want proof? Try our Kaia croc-print sandals on for size: with gold buckles, wear with a khaki shirt dress, or white crisp button-up tucked into any pair of jeans and you’ll impress at work and at play.

Elin croc-embossed leather boots

If you need something a little cosier, our tan Elin shearling-lined croc-embossed leather boots will look incredible with cream pants, cream turtleneck sweater and a hearty serving of aprés ski. Cosy, comfortable, and chic – who knew it was possible? We did!

Animal print

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: animal print is a neutral (for the most part). So, if you needed another reason to stock up on snake, python and croc – there it is.

So, how do you wear it? Well, like most neutrals, the possibilities are almost endless; try color blocking with red, blue or even purple, or clash with other prints like tartan and florals. The most important thing? That you wear it with confidence.

Freya snake-print leather trainers

Our Freya subtle snake print leather sneakers in black look great with leather (or faux leather if you please) pants, denim of all kinds, and a printed blouse and blazer.

Kinbey croc-embossed metallic leather ankle boots

And while silver’s not exactly your typical animal print hue, it is still a neutral, so go wild with our Kinbey boots in mock-croc print silver (or gold), a maxi dress and a must-have teddy-bear jacket. You’ll become the queen of the (urban) jungle in no time!
