You might recognise Poonam as one of the judges from our LCF shoe design competition. Find out a little bit about her fantastic career journey so far, plus what inspired her Swatchbook sock sneaker design.

What’s your role at FitFlop?

I’m the Design and Creative Director of Product.

Can you tell us a little bit about roles you’ve had before joining FitFlop?

My background is in development and design. After graduating with a BA in Fashion Design, my curiosity took my career to China where I spent almost 8 years perfecting my trade and my Mandarin language skills! I started as a sample room coordinator, working with some of the biggest fashion retailers in the world (working Monday to Saturday 9am-10pm)! Hard work and passion skyrocketed my career and I was soon promoted to Footwear Designer, Design Manager, Head of Design. I returned to the UK where I landed a job with a luxury fashion label working between London and factories in Italy.

What does a normal day look like for you?

Busy! Footwear never sleeps!

Why is comfort important to you in your role?

All shoes should be comfortable, whoever said that fashion is pain has never experienced the magic of comfortable shoes!

What’s your favourite thing about working here at FitFlop?

My design team. Their passion and dedication drives my creativity and vision for this brand.

What do you like most about the Swatchbook sock sneakers?

The story behind it. My design team are always materialising the collection by using our material library and material books. So, I decided to design a boot made from one of our material swatchbooks! This boot represents the creativity and thought that goes into each and every shoe that we create, after all, they are our babies!

Tell us the inspiration behind the outfit you’ve paired with these shoes.

I can’t really say that I have a particular way of styling, I always wear whatever I want. I mix prints, textures, fabrics and colours quite a lot, I always try not to wear black because it doesn’t represent my spirit. I have a colourful soul so I dress how I feel!

What is your wardrobe staple, the one thing you can’t live without?

My octopus kimono! They are my spirit animal!

Who would you say is your style icon?

Isabella Blow.

Can you pick three other styles in the AW range that you are excited about?

The Glace ankle boots, Carita sneakers and Spacer sock sneakers! I love these styles!
